Glendale police are searching for a gunman who appears to have gone on a random shooting spree in a West Valley community early Wednesday morning.

Somebody shot out the back windows of vehicles in the Desert Mirage Neighborhood. So far, at least five incidents have been reported.

Victoria Casillas has a bullet hole in the back window of her SUV, which was parked in the front driveway of her Glendale home.

"It's pretty scary to think that we could have been sitting in our cars, and could have been shot," Casillas said.

The West Valley mom thinks the shot was fired overnight while she and her two kids were asleep.

It wasn't until she walked outside Thursday morning that she saw the bullet hole and shattered glass, and immediately called the police.

According to police, Casillas wasn't the only victim.

Authorities said they've heard about at least five vehicle windows shot out in the past 24 hours.

Neighbor Doug Keatts said it could be a bunch of troublemaking teenagers who don't realize what a dangerous game they're playing.

"The bullet can go anywhere," Keatts said. "Once you shoot at something, it can bounce off and hit a child, or a person close by. Yes, it's very dangerous."

Casillas hopes someone will turn in whoever is responsible before somebody gets hurt.

"That's not something you do," Casillas said of the shootings. "There are other places you can go target practice, whatever. This isn't the place."

Investigators are still trying to determine what kind weapon was used -- a small-caliber handgun or a BB gun.
